“Escape from Reality” -Alexander Riesenhuber

Life can be great. Friends, family, money, and just living in general. But sometimes life gets rough. Sometimes life brings you down with work overloads, bad news, arguments, and so much more. When this happens, it sucks. However, I have a simple solution to these moments that make life feel empty or even painful. Escape. Move on to something that makes you happy. While I can’t give everyone an instant solution, I have a few ideas that I personally use to escape.
Not many people know this, but every once in a while when I’m alone, I’ll plug earphones in, blare music, and just jam out. I dance like there’s no tomorrow, my own personal party. It’s fun for me because I don’t have to be afraid of people commentating on my abysmal excuses for dancing, or if I just look flat out stupid. That and it gets me moving. It’s not perfect for exercise, but it can help a little.
Another activity I do is watching funny or cute videos. These can just be those simple videos everyone has seen on the YouTube front page to smaller things. They’re short, simple, and can act as a quick laugh. Even if it’s not funny to everyone, sometimes I’ll find a video that I personally can’t stop laughing about.
A more known thing about me is I’m a gamer. I play all sorts of games, because they make me happy. The biggest would probably be League of Legends. While those who know the game would say it’s a more stressful endeavor and could put you in a worse mood, there’s something about the game I love. I know that in every game, I make a difference. I’m at least 10% of the games results, and that I could completely change a game around.
I do plenty of other things, such as Karate and just relaxing with friends. But all I’m wanting to say is, find something that makes you happy. Use it to make life better. Find that one thing that no matter how sad you are, you can go to it and go from feeling down, you can practically leap in joy at the opportunity. Find your escape from reality, no matter how brief, and hold on to it.
